Question of the Day

Does your company have a driver retention budget?

Quote of the Day

"Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success; leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall."

-- Stephen R. Covey

Question of the Day

Does your company have a driver retention budget?

* Yes, and it's been very effective in reducing turnover.

* Yes, but it's a relatively small budget and ineffective.

* No, but I wish we did since it could help improve our turnover numbers.

* No, and we don't need one because you can't stop drivers from looking for greener pastures.

Vote

In our last issue, we asked the following question:

Would paying drivers an annual salary or by-the-hour instead of by-the-mile help reduce driver turnover?

* Yes. It would give drivers more financial stability and control over their income, thus reducing their perceived need to constantly job hop: 33 percent

* No. It would cause more problems than it solves by eliminating the incentive pay structure that has worked well for carriers and drivers alike: 66 percent

Note: Inside Truckingpolls are surveys of those who choose to participate and are therefore not valid statistical samples.
