My Point: Total Driver HEALTH package
By Marvin Shefsky
We began by devoting considerable editorial space in our traditional driver recruitment books to the critical but largely ignored issue of driver health and wellness. Next, we facilitated the deployment of hundreds of blood pressure kiosks at truck stops and carrier terminals around the country so drivers could monitor their BP and other vital health signs at their convenience, for free. Then we joined forces with the Healthy Trucking Association of America (HTAA) to promote driver health and wellness in a structured, nation-wide fashion. And now we’ve launched Driver HEALTH, the official magazine of the HTAA and the first publication of its kind dedicated to improving drivers’ health, wellness and lifestyle.
Driver HEALTH made its debut last month and was an immediate success with drivers and carriers alike. If reaction at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas was any indication, Driver HEALTH has filled a gaping need for drivers in terms of editorial content while giving carriers an ideal vehicle to showcase the fact that they are “a company that cares” before a receptive audience of over-the-road professionals.
In short, Driver HEALTH connects all the dots in terms of health-conscious truckers and the recruiting process and provides carriers with the total package to reach these desirable, dependable drivers.
The inaugural issue of Driver HEALTH included everything from informative articles by leading health professionals on carpal tunnel syndrome and colon cancer to yoga, eating habits and diet tips, including cooking on the road recipes from the “Roadside Dietitian.”
While health and wellness are critical components to improving any driver’s overall lifestyle, they’re not the only issues that figure into the mix. With that in mind, the inaugural issue of Driver HEALTH also included many favorite columns and departments from OTR and Pro Trucker, such as “Murphy’s World,” “Driven Women” and “Say What” (in which drivers voice their opinions on a variety of issues). Looking forward, Driver HEALTH will continue to expand its editorial package with driver-specific lifestyle content, human interest stories, business and industry news and more.
Driver HEALTH isn’t just another driver recruiting book; it’s a driver-oriented magazine that happens to be the best place for your recruiting ad. Unlike all the other driver recruitment books, we’ve purposely branded our publication as a magazine geared for healthy drivers and drivers keenly interested in improving their health.
We have effectively separated ourselves from the rest of the recruiting books, and we trust you’ll see this as an opportunity to separate your company from the crowd as well. Show recruits that you’re a company that not only cares for its drivers and is the best outfit to work for, but you are willing to go the extra mile for them when it comes to the most important issue of all – the health, wellness and well-being of your drivers and their families.
Give us a call or send us an e-mail to find out how to join us on this healthy journey.
